Ruby Tuesday Closing Count Now up to 147

In the 80s and 90s, many considered Ruby Tuesday the premier mid-priced restaurant chain in the Southeast. Time has a way of changing things.

The Florence store is long gone, having closed in 2016. Now employees of the Muscle Shoals location tell us that store is also history. They say they have received a very impersonal e-mail informing them of their job loss.

A news report from the company states the chain has closed 147 stores since January 1st. The official statement:

“During these uncertain times, and after careful consideration, we have made the decision to close select locations in an effort to better position our restaurants for future business. We value the dedication and hard work of all our employees and we greatly appreciate all those who support us. We will continue to work hard to make the Ruby Tuesday brand even stronger for the future.”

Recent analytics indicate restaurant and apparel chains are prime targets for closing during this crisis-induced recession and that we can expect to see 70% bite the dust.
