Irons & Wright: The Gift Card Scam
Since publishing the burglary arrests of Brady Ann Irons and Ted William Wright in Franklin County, several northwest Alabama businesses have contacted PNS about the alleged activities of the Florence pair. Both Irons, 35, and Wright, 34, have long criminal histories involving multiple incarcerations.
According to one loss prevention specialist, the pair would shoplift from such stores as Walmart and Kohls, then return the merchandise sans receipt for gift cards. The cards would then be sold for cash, some for more than the posted value.
It's not uncommon for such miscreants to be banned from these stores, and most choose not to risk the consequences of an unwanted return. Such was not the case of the engaged couple late last year. Both were arrested for Criminal Trespass on December 9th in Cullman.
If you've purchased a gift card from either Irons or Wright, notify police or the store on which it was issued. If you've purchased any merchandise from the couple (see their Facebook pages), notify the Florence CID or its counterpart in your city.
Both Irons and Wright remain free on bond at this time, but are facing multiple court appearances.
